It’s really complicated!

Abusing drugs or alcohol only makes it more so.

Everyone deserves to live a good life: to have a healthy body, a clear mind, loving family and friends. And the freedom to make the choices that are best for you; choices that open doors to new passions, opportunities and a bright future.

As a teenager, our brains and bodies are still growing. We’re learning how to make smart choices, control our impulses and live a pono, respectful life. Drugs and alcohol can short circuit that process.

Using drugs and alcohol and can seem exciting at first — a way to have fun and escape the pressures. But it eventually becomes repetitive, boring and a big hassle. It takes time, money and energy away from you and things that really turn you on.

Everyone is unique. But anyone can become addicted to drugs or alcohol. If you’re concerned that drugs or alcohol are becoming a problem for you, you’re not alone.
